Dr. Jeffrey Lam’s story begins in Gananoque. His grandfather immigrated to the area in the 1950s to work with family at the Modern Cafe, and his father attended Gananoque Secondary School. These connections make caring for local families deeply meaningful. Born and raised in nearby Kingston, Dr. Lam is proud to serve the community that has been part of his family for generations.
Dr. Lam is on faculty in the Department of Ophthalmology at Hotel Dieu Hospital, where he runs a specialty contact lens clinic for patients with keratoconus, corneal transplants, and other corneal ectasias. He provides comprehensive eye exams for all ages, contact lens care including specialty lenses, and co management of eye disease and surgical care.
Before optometry, Dr. Lam worked as an X ray Technologist at Kingston General Hospital, Hotel Dieu Hospital, St. Mary’s of the Lake, and at the X ray clinic in Stone’s Mill. He earned a Life Sciences degree and an X ray diploma at Queen’s University. Inspired by those clinical experiences, he completed his Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo in 2017, graduating on the Dean’s Honours List and serving as class valedictorian. His training includes an externship at Omni Eye Services in Atlanta alongside cataract, glaucoma, cornea, retina, and comprehensive ophthalmology teams, plus additional externships in Kingston, including time at Galen Eye Centre with involvement in glaucoma care.
Forest Eye Care brings those roots and that experience together, delivering genuine, community first eye care right here at home in Stone’s Mill.
